Report: Inventory of datasets on individual factors

Both for the receiving country and immigrants it is important that migrants are able to participate fully and contribute to the labour market. This report discusses the main individual factors that affect this integration and presents cross-national and country-specific datasets, including syntax files, to study these factors in Western European countries. We discuss  the role of ethnic origin and years since migration; migration motivation; impact of gender; the impact of naturalization; and bridging and bonding capital.

The report also includes Stata do-files to replicate the descriptive findings of this report using three different cross-national datasets: the Database of Immigrants in OECD Countries, the EU Labour Force Survey and the European Social Survey. Besides a cross-national overview we also provide more information on the available data in the UK, the Netherlands, Germany, Italy, Spain and Norway. files_on_website
